Wood Floor Cleaning and Maintenance should be done on a regular basis. Shining, bright, Wood Floors make any house look so inviting and livable. But, Wood tends to discolor with time. So, below are a few tips to help keep your wooden floors looking their best.
- The first step is to make sure you vacuum your floors thoroughly to get off all the small particles of dust. Use the crevice tool on your vacuum to get next to the baseboards, where dust can accumulate and look unsightly. Vacuum extremely well with your floor brush, never with a beater brush, as that will definitely scratch your Wood floor.
- Take a little bit of vinegar, about ½ cup and about 1 gallon of water in a mop bucket. Use a microfiber string mop that you wring out very well or a flat mop with a terry cloth mop head on it, also wrung out very well. Always mop with the grain of the Wood. This will allow you to get all the dirt in between the planks. Mop it very well, back and forth. If your Wood floor is very dirty, change your mop water. Always have clean solution when mopping your Wood floors, otherwise you are putting the dirt back onto the floor.
- After the floor has dried, use Pledge Orange Oil for floors, available at any home goods store, and spray it onto the floor, a little at a time. Take a dry mop and work it into the grain of the Wood, making sure, again, you follow the grain when applying the Pledge.
Make sure there is no traffic on your Wooden Floors for at least 6-8 hours.
