Stove Hood Filter Cleaning in Evanston, Il

Stove Hood Filters should be cleaned at least once per month, depending on the amount of cooking you do. Actually, all filters, e.g. microwave, stove, heating, and air-conditioning should all be cleaned regularly and consistently to ensure that your equipment works at maximum efficiency.

All we need is White, distilled Vinegar and Baking Soda. Put a large cooking pan with about 1-2 gallons of water onto boil on the stove. Add 1 cup of  Soda and  2 cups of Vinegar to the boiling water. Let it boil well, then add the filter that needs to be cleaned. Let it boil for about 10 minutes. If it is a large filter, make sure you use a large broiler pan so it is well immersed. The grease will gradually start to rise to the top of the pan.

Take the filter out with some metal kitchen prongs, so as not to burn your fingers. Take a toothbrush and scrub the filter in all the corners and crevices.

Rinse the filter out with cold water. If it needs a second time to boil again, do it right away, so as to get all the gook and grease out. Make sure all the metal, mesh holes are clear of any grease before you rinse the filter again. Let the filter naturally dry in the air. Make sure it is totally dry before reinserting it back into your equipment.  By keeping all your filters, especially your Stove Hood Filters, free from grease, you will definitely prolong the life of your appliances and have a more smoke free kitchen.
